Plus, they also have both a good food court and on-site restaurant. There you go! Did we leave anything out? Let us know in the comments. The team at Small World Vacations is ready to help get you started. Complete Guide to Disney Cruise Line.
Disney World Moderate Resorts. Heather Thomas. Sound like a good fit? Check out the info below. In this article.
Author Recent Posts. The Fort Wilderness cabins are unique in that they can sleep up to 6 guests and have a full-size kitchen. Due to this, the room sizes are much bigger than the standard moderate room of sq ft. Pools at the Moderate Disney Resorts are beautifully themed and all have a water slide and hot tubs. This is a missing feature at the Disney Value Resorts and a deal-breaker for my family when we visit in the summer. Because my kids love the pool waterslides, and we choose to take a mid-day break when we visit during the warmer months, we decide between moderates and deluxe options only.
Each Moderate Disney Resort has at least two dining options: a quick service and a table service. The French Quarter does not have a table service, but guests can walk next door to the Port Orleans Riverside restaurant.
Another added benefit is that French Quarter and Riverside guests can take a riverboat to Disney Springs , which has a plethora of dining and shopping options for everyone. At Fort Wilderness, a dinner show is also an option. All Disney Moderate Hotels offer bus transportation to the parks. Fort Wilderness also offers guests the option of a ferry to Magic Kingdom.
Here are my rankings for the best Disney Moderate Resorts and why. Hopefully, this will help you decide which resort to choose from or if you should upgrade to a Deluxe or downgrade to a Value:. To me, this is the best Disney Moderate Resort. I love this hotel! The magnolia trees, cobblestone streets, gas lamps, iron fences, and jazz music are tough to top. We recently shared our love for this city with our children when we visited New Orleans on our summer road trip. This hotel sure does capture the spirit of the Big Easy.
Besides its French Quarter charm, the next best part about this hotel is that it is the smallest of the Moderate Disney Resorts. This means two things — one, there are fewer people staying at the hotel, and two — there is only one bus stop and the buses are rarely full.
If you have ever used the Disney transportation buses, then you know that this is a huge perk! I also love the food options here too and it is usually one of the resorts I stop in during my non-park days at Disney World. This Disney Moderate Resort has been dealing with room upgrades and refurbishments to their spaces since , and most recently, the construction of the Disney Skyliner transportation system.
I would have to say that it has been worthwhile because the improvements make this the best Disney Moderate Resort for families. Their pirate-themed splash pad and Spanish fortress water slide, cannons, and waterfalls are a huge hit.
The rooms have also been upgraded and their quick service and casual restaurant are solid options. Room rates are also on the lower end of the Disney Moderate Resorts, as this is a huge property with about 2, rooms and 6 areas.
It is also a great budget-friendly option for larger families as it has rooms that sleep five. Especially for your first ever visit to Disney, we would hate for you to be disappointed! We welcome the Frog Pond to chime in on their experiences and any recommendations. Port Orleans both Riverside and French Quarter are our personal favorite moderate resorts! If i book my hotel through disney but buy tickets through undercovertourist, do i still get complimentary magicbands sent to me?
We stayed at Port Orleans last year. They do not offer the Pirate Adventure cruise. I didn't realize that the resort would be hosting convention activities by the lake until late in the evening, and clean up would be very loud and noisy.
This wouldn't be a problem if I weren't getting up early with my young children to hit the parks early in the AM. Keep in mind, this is a convention resort. The food courts were packed during the times I happened to be there. Seating was a problem when hitting the quick service court. For moderate, it will be Port Orleans Riverside, or we will splurge and go back to some of our deluxe favorites, where we felt like our needs mattered.
Will everyone staying at CBR, starting in May, receive the 75 gift card? Or do you have to book before a certain date to be eligible for that? I just heard back from Disney and they said you had to book during a specific time frame in order to get the gift card.
What about Coronado being "too big" of a campus? I have read reports of people walking "great distances" to get to the pool and bus stops for transportation. Coronado is most luxurious of the moderates -- and as my children are getting older, the pool is much better for them. The Port Orleans has more of a "younger" pool with decor and slide, better suited for kids under We're planning on taking our first ever trip to Disney World in fall of What about the reviews Ive read about people saying they "had to walk forever" or "great disatnces" when staying at Coronado?

Visit Blog Home. Disney Moderate Resort Hotel Pools The moderates have more elaborately themed pools that include waterslides and hot tubs while the values do not. Comments Leave a Comment. Sort: Newest to Oldest Oldest to Newest. Jun 8, at p. Joseph Paul Says Coronado Springs has four total pools which include the feature pool The Dig Site and three leisure pools.
The pool pictured above is in the Casitas section. It does have a water slide, large hot tub, and a playground. The rooms at Coronado Springs recently got refurbished with new hardwood floors and a large desk area instead of a table with two chairs. The bathrooms are separated from the main area by sliding wooden doors. The bathroom area has two sinks and many rooms now just have a shower.
So if you are looking for any of these amenities this could be a reason to stay here as opposed to the other Moderates. Price and availability is a positive at Coronado Springs.
Since it is such a huge resort over 2, rooms! And it is almost always included in the best discounts from Disney. In general, Coronado Springs will be the most affordable of the moderate resorts. Last, transportation is a drawback at Coronado Springs.
There is only bus service here, while the other moderates now all offer some alternative form of transportation such as boats or the Skyliner. And since there are four bus stops around the resort, it will add about 10 minutes to your ride each way. I think it is their price tag that caused Disney to put them into the Moderate category. There are cabins crammed into these loops, so as you can guess they are quite close together.
The cabins are about square feet each. They all have a porch with a picnic table and a grill located next to the porch. The appeal of the cabins is that they are the only non-DVC accommodations to offer a full kitchen. This can be great if you want to cook your own food. There is a separate bedroom in the cabins with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. There is also a pull-out couch in the living room with a full-size bed. Technically the cabins sleep up to six, though I think that would be a very tight fit.
The main challenge at Fort Wilderness in transportation. First, you are only allowed to drive your car around when you are arriving or departing. You must take an internal bus to get around the resort. These buses take you to the Outpost, where you can board other buses that take you to the theme parks.
The internal buses also drop off at The Meadow for the feature swimming pool, general store, and quick service location that service lunch and dinner. The option of taking a boat to Magic Kingdom is definitely a plus of a stay at Fort Wilderness. All of the activities available at Fort Wilderness is a definite plus to staying here.
They include:. You can also visit the Walt Disney World horse barn and small museum. There is so much to do at Fort Wilderness that you could easily stay there and pass on the theme parks. Some people rent golf carts to get around the resort internally, but this adds to the already high cost of staying in a cabin.
